Simple Holiday Fitness Tips

The holidays are a great time of the year, great food, great friends, great family. Giving, receiving, fun….. time consuming and stress. Ok so the last two are a bi-product of a lot of other great things, but how do you keep your fitness goals on track during the holiday season?

Let’s keep this simple, if you already have schedule exercise: a personal trainer, boot camp, group classes, spin, or you just always workout at a certain time. Do EVERYTHING you can to keep the scheduled workouts. Excess stress and calories mean you need workout more than usual, but unfortunately exercise is the first thing to go in these situations.

Ok so the real reason you’re reading this is probably because you can’t make it to your gym. So here are some easy tricks.

Body weight exercises: pushups, squats, dips, abs, plyos

Resistance Bands: You can do almost everything with resistance bands and if you’re traveling they won’t take up any space!

Go for a walk before or after you eat, or really whenever you can.

Keep it simple if you must, but make sure you’re doing something. Remember the new year is days away.

Holiday Nutrition Advice

The Holidays are here which means food food food food food food food and more food.  For anybody on a diet(I personal despise this word btw) it can wreak havoc. Sure it may be a little bit, OK a lot harder to stick to nutritious foods this time of the year. Let me offer a few words of advice.

First things first, remember the 80/20 rule, eat healthy 80 percent of the time and you’ll have success. So with that being said, enjoy the holiday meals, just use a few simple little tricks.

Put a limit on your sweets. Try 1 not all.

Enjoy the turkey, ham, and fruits and veggies

Don’t over dip and don’t over sauce.

If you want to enjoy the holiday foods, don’t drink your calories.

Remember good nutrition aka diet, is not rocket science.

Fruits, veggies, lean proteins, low fat dairy, and water 80 percent of the time and you will have success!

Free Year of Personal Training

I got into Personal Training 9 years ago because it was a passion of mine, and I truly wanted to be able to help people out. Last Christmas I decided I really wanted to help change somebody’s life that probably wouldn’t be able to achieve these changes without my help.

I decided to begin my search for my first ever Free Year of Personal Training. I was looking for an extremely deserving person. I needed to find somebody committed, that would be willing to fight for their goals, whatever their limitations might be. After months of searching for somebody to give away a free year of Personal Training to, I found Carrie, well actually Carrie found me.

Carrie, wheel chair and all, ventured into the gym ready to change her life. She promised she was committed and ready to do everything to reach her goals. Despite her limitations, she had high hopes in mind.   She could barely breath during everyday life and she wanted to get her breathing in check, gain strength, and lose weight, all on her way to her reach her ultimate goal of walking!

I believe I have gained as much working with Carrie as she has working with me. And thanks to her dedication and results-driven attitude, I have been inspired to give out an annual Free Year of Personal Training.

40 Plus Personal Training Philosophy

40 Plus Personal Training is a Private Small Group Personal Training Studio located in Eugene. We are designed specifically to help those 40 and over reclaim their health and fitness.

The Personal Training philosophy at 40 Plus Personal Training is to create a fun, encouraging, and productive atmosphere that inspires a lifestyle change and life long results.

We accomplish this by providing a Personal Training style that consistently changes exercise routines in order to challenge both your body and mind.

Personal Training sessions typically last 45 minutes and every last minute is utilized by limiting the level of rest by combining weight training with bursts of fast twitch cardio routines.  Every training session uses a combination of many types of equipment including: free weights, your body, suspension training, stability training, boxing, battle ropes, kettle bells etc.

Simply put 40 Plus Personal Training keeps you moving, sweating, and improving. All while taking into consideration your limitations and abilities.

$200 per month:

TWO Small Group Personal Training Sessions with no more than 4 people total and TWO optional boot camps (day and time TBD) per week.

EIGHT Small Group Personal Training Sessions per month AND EIGHT optional boot camps per month (day and time TBD)

If you utilize all boot camps the price per session is only $12.50!

$250 per month:

THREE Small Group Personal Training Sessions with no more than 4 people total and TWO optional boot camps (day and time TBD) per week.

TWELVE Small Group Personal Training Sessions per month AND EIGHT optional boot camps per month (day and time TBD)

If you utilize all boot camps the price per session is only $12.50!
